Today our school launched a new initiative to further enhance the already amazing climate and culture of our school.
We are implementing the “House System” in which every student and staff member will take part to create a strong community of learners. Through this initiative, each student will be sorted into a house. These houses will have students of all grade levels in them as well as a variety of staff members. Students and staff will stay in the same house for the duration of their time here at Ascension Lutheran School.
Students and staff will work together throughout the year and beyond, to build strong bonds and relationships that will allow them to feel more connected to our school. Our goal is for students to feel as if they truly know all the staff and students in our school and that we are united as one.
Each house represents a specific fruit of the spirit. Our four houses are JOY, PEACE, KINDNESS, and FAITHFULNESS and will work together to represent the quality they represent with pride. Houses will meet throughout the year to participate in team bonding activities, work on Habitudes and complete special projects together.
Students will also be earning points for their houses. Points are a way that we will be reinforcing the positive behavior exhibited by our amazing students. There will even be some friendly house competitions throughout the year to see who will be our eventual “House Champion” for the school year.
We encourage families to participate in this experience as well. Ask your children about their house, show pride in their house by wearing house colors or coming to our assemblies and get involved in our awesome community. Our school community is not just the students and staff, but you, the parents, as well! We look forward to working together with you to grow our community.
