Service Project In-School
Project Response is an effort, in collaboration with Ascension Lutheran Church, to address the issue of hunger in our community. Each student will receive a collection bag that can be brought back filled with grocery items. Add a few extra items to your grocery list and bring your filled bag back to your classroom the week of October 23-27. The donated food will be distributed between the Ascension Food Pantry, Lutheran Social Services, and Manna.
Most Needed Items for Food Drive: Paper towels, toilet paper, canned pasta sauce, canned tomato sauce, macaroni and cheese, canned fruit, canned chili (beans and no-beans), ketchup/mustard/mayo, rice (small bags), pinto beans (small bags), canned meats (tuna, chicken, SPAM).
Family Service Opportunities
This month we have two opportunities for families to serve together in support of helping the hungry.
- LSS Walk to Fight Poverty – Sunday, October 8, 12-3 PM at California Lutheran University: This is a fun event for a great cause, with carnival games for families, free t-shirts for participants, a raffle, and BBQ lunch. Proceeds go to those living below the poverty line in our community. People who are hungry, homeless, unemployed, elderly, children and single parents will benefit from the Walk-a-Thon proceeds.
