Last week, Ascension classes joined with millions of students from around the globe by participating in the Hour of Code. This worldwide effort introduces students to computer science with engaging activities and tutorials. At Ascension, it supplements our commitment to ensuring every student has an opportunity to explore computer science in both weekly computer classes and through activities in our MakerSpace.
Each grade level (1-8) experienced an interactive activity for the Hour of Code that helped them understand how coding works and how they can apply problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity to yield the desired outcomes. Activities ranged from creating a Google Doodle to using an iPad coding app called Hopscotch to working through online activities.
