Everyday is a Gift!

Our fabulous fifth-grade class published a wonderful book titled, “Everyday is a Gift!”. Written in November, the book includes reflections from each student on what they are thankful for accompanied by their own beautiful illustrations.

The title of the book was selected by the students and was inspired by a story that their teacher, Mrs. Rodriguez shared with them.  “I told my students that my dad always said that every day is a gift and that we are each blessed with a new day! A new day to make a wrong a right choice or a new chance to just enjoy being with our loved ones,” said Mrs. Rodriguez. The students felt this sentiment of every day being a gift was an appropriate summary of their reflections. The remarks of our students give us all reason to pause and count our blessings each day:

  • “My dad and mom do so much for me. My dad is the soccer coach..My mom cheers for me.”
  • “One gift that comes to my mind is animals. Animals to me are amazing! Some even change peoples lives. My goal is to help animals in any way possible.”
  • “My teachers help me learn and grow every day! They teach me so many interesting things and are always nice and kind.”
  • “I am so thankful for my friends. They help me so much. I love to hang out with them.”
  • “I am thankful for my parents because they love me so much. Also, because they give me food, shelter, and education.”
  • “I am thankful for veterans that fight for our country.”
  • “I am thankful for dogs. Dogs are comforting. They are playful and fun! Dogs love you no matter what.”
  • “I am thankful for food because food gives us energy to do fun things.”
